Outdoor Recreation Fund Advisory Council
In response to a historic influx of funds to Idaho parks and soaring visitation numbers, Governor Brad Little created a new advisory council, Outdoor Recreation Fund Advisory Council, to recommend outdoor recreation improvement projects and increase outdoor recreation opportunities in Idaho. A one-time, $5 million allocation has been made to expand camping, fishing, hunting, trail and other outdoor activities in Idaho. The order directs the state’s outdoor agencies to work together to propose projects, manage under-utilized resources to enhance recreational access, and monetize outdoor recreation for long-term sustainability.

Idaho Parks and Recreation, Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game, and Idaho Dept. of Lands are just a few of the voices that will work together to propose projects. Skylar Jett will represent the business voice on the council.

There can be unintended impact on rural Idaho when there is a lack of infrastructure, resources and revenue to support increased recreation. This is one of the many reasons it is important to have investment, support and coordination to make sure the increase in outdoor recreation is successful and responsible.
